Where our work really comes from
I'm Austin, Everett's son. I handle sales, service and installation at Jones Air & Water, and I also keep an eye on where our jobs actually come from. Not a guess, not a gut feeling, the real numbers straight out of our own books.
From January 1 through June 19, 2026, Jones Air & Water brought in $381,870 in total income across softeners, filtration and reverse osmosis systems. Here's how the top three sources of that work broke down, straight out of QuickBooks:
| Source | Income, Jan 1 to Jun 19, 2026 |
|---|---|
| $64,700 | |
| Website | $57,900 |
| Repeat customers | $49,600 |
Add those three up and you get $172,200, which is about 45% of our total income for the period, from just three sources we can actually name and measure.
Why I bother tracking this at all
My dad built this business on word of mouth and a truck with our name on the side, and that still matters. But I grew up on the other end of it: a homeowner searching on their phone, finding us on Facebook or our website, and deciding whether to call. If I don't know which of those actually turns into a booked job, I'm just guessing where to put my time and where to spend the company's money. A company that tracks its sources wins, plain and simple, because you stop spending effort on what feels productive and start spending it on what the numbers actually show is working.
We don't sort through these numbers alone. We work with OwnersFirm, a growth firm built for owner-led companies like ours, to help us actually read this stuff and decide where to spend our time and ad dollars next. Full disclosure: they're also the ones who built and run this site.
The number that means the most to me
Of those three, repeat customers at $49,600 is the one I care about most. Facebook and the website bring someone in the door the first time. Repeat customers are the ones who already had us out once, for a softener or a filtration system, and called us again, or told a neighbor to call us. My dad has a line he's used since before I was born: "You can be a filter, or you can buy a filter." Repeat business is what happens when people find out we actually meant it the first time.
